Nina Vincent - Whole Self Healing
I have been a health practitioner since 1993 beginning with a massage practice, and then moving on to acupressure, and finally completing my Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Before I began my healing arts journey and medical training, I worked as a bilingual Spanish speaking counselor in a homeless shelter for five years. Prior to that I worked as a counselor in a group home for at risk teenage girls. Years of counseling both teens and adults as well as doing my own personal growth work have contributed to the whole self healing component of my practice. I am the mother of three children ages 36, 24, and 11. This too contributes to my work with mothers and families.
As a Traditional Chinese Medical physician, I use both acupuncture and herbs with my patients. Nutritional counseling, massage, and Qi Gong exercises may also be a part of my patients' prescriptions. I also encourage my patients to look deeper into the psychology of any given illness. We often explore for example the ways in which fear of illness and pain may actually prolong these conditions long after the body has healed an initial illness or disharmony. Through both hands on massage, deep tissue work, or Qi Gong hands on work, my patients may discover areas where they are literally holding on to their disease state.
For patients suffering with anxiety, depression, low self esteem, and fear I enjoy working with the Byron Katie model for finding ways to free ourselves from the stories we tell and believe which hold us hostage in ways we do not want.
In my twenty plus years of experience, i have worked with many kinds of disease and disharmony. Some of those are as follows:
- Physical injury, and pain of all kinds
- Anxiety, panic disorder, depression, and insomnia
- Women's hormonal issues including PMS, peri-menopause, and menopause
- Teenagers at risk, overly stressed, and fatigued from increased academic and social pressures.
- Headaches, migraines
- Skin disorders: rosacea, eczema, psoraisis, and acne
Cancer patients going through chemo/radiation or on the other end. I find great joy in helping cancer patients move forward in their lives working through the anxiety that cancer creates on a daily basis for them. Acupuncture, herbal medicine, massage, and personal growth work combined together as a truly whole self healing successfully address many unresolved issues that have not responded to other modalities. Please feel free to call, or email me with questions as to how I may help you.
Peace. Nina Vincent L.Ac. MS CMT
